Stop Negative Thoughts Fast | Hypnotherapy Technique

In the last video, we learned that an emotion only sticks around in the body for 90 seconds, and anything after that is usually us holding ourselves there because we think we have to.

Now let’s take the next step: learning how to catch and reframe negative thoughts as they arise.

Ali Miller, Hypnotherapist of Chicago, teaches a simple but powerful technique called Cancel Cancel. Whenever a negative thought pops up — for example:

  • “I’m never going to be happy.”

  • “I’m not good enough.”

  • “I’m ugly.”

…immediately say Cancel Cancel. Then replace the thought with a positive affirmation such as:

  • “I am worthy.”

  • “I love me.”

  • “I am good enough.”

At first, you may need to do this many times throughout the day. Over time, your subconscious begins to accept these positive messages, and your negative self-talk naturally decreases. So don’t judge yourself for how often you need to use this tool over the course of a couple weeks, and don’t panic if you don’t believe the positive affirmation immediately. In time, it can become part of your belief system with consistent repetition.

This method was inspired by Ali’s teacher, Tim Simmerman-Sierra, and the book The Secret Language of Feelings by Calvin Banyan — a great read for understanding and processing your emotions.

By consistently catching and reframing negative beliefs, you train your mind to focus on positivity, boost your self-worth, and experience lasting emotional change.
